KOCE-TV Presents New Documentary, “Journey to the Philippines ”


The Philippines Travel Destinations will be featured on main stream TV Channel KOCE TV this May 15, 2006 at 7:30 PM . It is sponsored in part by TravelPH.Com of the Manila Forwarder Group, in cooperation with the Association of Filipino Travel Agents (AFTA) and the Philippine Department of Tourism- Los Angeles.

DOT Director Annie Cuevas and AFTA President Manny Paez are coordinating their efforts in promoting the Philippines as tourism destination in main stream US Market. They said that this is a chance for Filipinos in the area to let their neighbors, co-workers and classmates to know more about the Philippines and understand our cultures.

The documentary will feature the Philippines as a nation of over 7000 enchanting islands and over 100 different languages. KOCE-TV, Orange County Public Television, takes viewers on a trip to discover the exciting tourism possibilities of this beautiful destination in a new documentary, “Journey to the Philippines" .

Colorful pageantry and music greet visitors to a tourism forum held in the Philippines , where visitors are an important part of the local economy. Ten Asian nations participated in the forum, seeking unity and sharing in their cultural heritage. Philippines Tourism Director Rene De Los Santos was interviewed about tourism from the United States . He notes that over a half-million Americans travel to the Philippines each year and are part of an enormous segment of the country’s tourism economy.

The documentary profiles the many geographic, cultural, and ecological attractions which the Philippines offer to visitors. With so much variety, there is much to enjoy in this nation. The program gives viewers a brief overview of the history of the people and places that make up this diverse nation.

KOCE-TV cameras visited on National Youth Day, an occasion when throngs of young people celebrate education and the many positive values held by Filipinos. The importance of family life is at the very center of the community-building tradition long cherished by Filipinos.

Another fascinating segment in this documentary looks at the incredible natural park destinations in the Philippines . Viewers get a close-up look at endangered animals, exotic birds, butterflies, and snakes. One segment features the majestic Philippine eagle. The Philippines government takes careful custody of its environmental treasures and makes every effort to keep this pristine tropical paradise in top condition.

The geography of the islands is another major attraction highlighted in the documentary.

With a coastline longer than that of the United States , popular beach resorts rank among the finest in the world in terms of surf, sand, and sun. Many boast spectacular underwater life for visitors who enjoy scuba or snorkeling.

Rebroadcasts of the program are planned for Monday, May 15 at 11:30pm ; Thursday, May 18 at 7:30pm ; and Sunday, May 21 at 10:30am .
